As keen competitors in national and international events, the cutting, colouring and styling skills of these acknowledged experts inspire hairdressers world-wide. Their stage work is complemented with style shots and profiles in magazines and they are journalist’s first point of call when searching for advice on new products or hair care. Recognised by the industry, members also appear on radio and television in a variety of shows, especially those relating to fashion, beauty and the salon industry.
L’Oréal Professionnel works closely with the fashion industry to keep hair colour and styling inspirational and at the forefront of emerging beauty trends, and L’Oréal Professionnel Portfolio teams work backstage with designers at London Fashion Week, the Fashion in Motion shows at the V&A Museum, Central Saint Martin’s Graduate Show and Graduate Fashion Week.
Established Portfolio members also play a key role in passing on knowledge to the next generation both in the UK and around the world. Many teach specialised classes at the L’Oréal International Academies in London and Manchester, regarded as centres of excellence for hairdressing education. In 1998, L’Oréal Professionnel introduced the first ever Colour Specialist which is an advanced technical qualification in professional hair colouring. The course teaches advanced colour technicians all they need to know to create perfect colour every time, and also the skills needed for colour correction work. All L’Oréal Professionnel Portfolio salons have a Colour Specialist graduates managing their colour teams.
