Paris Hilton. The L’Oreal Look

Paris Hilton

Today we feature L’Oreal expert make-up artist Denise Milloy who shares her tips on how to create Paris Hiltons great party look.

Face: L’Oreal Bare Naturale All-Over Mineral Glow in Nude Glow gives skin a subtle shimmer that looks amazing in party lighting.

Eyes: Over the entire lid, only up to the crease, use the shimmery silver side of HIP Metallic Shadow Duo in Platinum. Apply sparingly as the color is SUPER concentrated. Add the dark black shadow close to the lash line, blending out to the lighter shadow. Three coats of Telescopic Mascara in Carbon gives the eyes extra drama.

Lips: Balancing out the smoky eye is Bare Naturale Gentle Lip Conditioner in Soft Blush.

Dermalogica. Questions and Answers

Exfoliation. Dermalogica Questions and Answers

Q: What’s the difference between physical and chemical exfoliants?

A: Both physical and chemical exfoliants work to remove dulling surface cells for a brighter, smoother surface.

Physical exfoliants use friction together with grains or particles to mechanically remove dead skin cells. This can be achieved through a brush or gentle abrasive ingredients such as Corn Cob Meal, Rice Bran or Oatmeal. Depending on the amount of friction or massage over the skin and the nature of the abrasive, results may vary. Steer clear of scrubs made from ground-up fruit pits or nut shells, which actually scratch and irritate skin.

Chemical exfoliants smooth skin by dissolving the intercellular “glue” that attach skin cells to the skin’s surface. Chemical exfoliants can also digest the cells as well. Hydroxy acids like Lactic and Salicylic Acid, Retinol, and enzymes are a few examples of chemical exfoliants.

Q: What should I expect before, during, and after a professional Dermalogica RMUK exfoliation treatment?

A: Professional Dermalogica RMUK exfoliation treatments are a great way to resurface, smooth, and brighten skin. They can help diminish the appearance of fine lines and hyperpigmentation, all while improving elasticity.

Before: Professional Dermalogica RMUK exfoliation treatments will begin with a professional double cleansing to remove all traces of oil, make-up and debris.

During: Based upon the results of your Dermalogica Face Mapping® skin analysis, your professional Dermalogica RMUK skin therapist will choose chemical or physical exfoliants, or both, to deliver the desired result. If you experience any discomfort (burning, stinging) during the treatment, alert your professional Dermalogica RMUK skin therapist immediately. Professional exfoliation uses stronger higher activity products, so some tingling is often expected.

After: Exfoliation, especially exfoliation with hydroxy acids, may increase your sensitivity to the sun as little as 13% and up to 50%. For this reason, it is recommended to use an application of SPF after any Hydroxy Acid treatment - good advice for your home care regimen as well.

Your professional Dermalogica RMUK skin therapist will also prescribe an at-home regimen to help you maintain the results.

Q: When shouldn’t I exfoliate?

A: While exfoliation is recommended for almost every skin condition, there are times when you shouldn’t exfoliate.

Skin that has been recently sunburned or waxed should not be exfoliated. Never exfoliate over open wounds or cuts.

If you have a sensitized skin condition, exfoliation may further compromise your skin’s natural protective barrier. It is important to follow the advice of your skin therapist when exfoliation is a part of your professional RMUK treatment and home care regimen.

Laura’s Beauty Confidential Make Up Tips

Make up tipsBeauty Confidential is all about you. Laura Moura solves all your cosmetics dilemmas with her best all time beauty tips and the secrets.

How you choose the right foundation?

Test along the edge of your face, on the jawline or side of your chin, and on the neck area in daylight. Go for a shade as close to your skin tone as possible.

Should you match your lipstick to your nail polish?

I like matching red lips and nails, but it’s a personal choice. You can choose what you want - dark red nails and beige lips for special occasions always looks great.

How do you choose the right colour eyeshadow?

Many people think that if you have blue eyes, go for blue eyeshadow, but that is a bit dated and old-fashioned. If your primary aim is to make eyes really stand out, choose a contrasting colour. Bronze, brown and golden shades make blue eyes look great. Red and purple shades look wonderful with brown eyes.

Where should you use a highlighter?

Highlighting pens are light reflective and sheer, so do not use them as a concealer. Highlighting formulas are great in providing definition - use along the brow bones, cheekbones and collar bones.

Is it best to use a dark lip pencil to outline lips?

Use a natural coloured lip pencil and do not put a perfect line around lips, because when the lipstick wears off you will be left with an unflattering line. Buffing on the colour with a lip pencil will give you a look of volume around the edges and it will stay on longer.

How often should you replace make-up sponges?

Dirty sponges or brushes contain a lot of bacteria, resulting in spots or infections. If you use sponges or brushes, wash them regularly and replace every month. The same applies to powder puffs and brushes.

Will adding more coats of mascara make my eyes look wider?

Gradually build up the mascara; two or three coats is more than enough. Use an eyelash curler first to get the best effect.

Can I use an eyeliner to fill in brow gaps?

Be sure to find a great colour that matches the hairs in your brows, and use feathery strokes instead of drawing a line.

Best Wishes
